Louis, MO (SafetyAlerts) - The Food
and Drug Administration (FDA) today reported that Mallinckrodt, Inc. is conducting a
recall of certain Methadose(r) (Methadone Hydrochloride Oral Concentrate, USP), 10mg/mL,
in 1 quart bottles, because of superpotency.
The recalled Methadose is a
prescription for detoxification and maintenance treatment for narcotic addiction.
According to FDA, 1,060 bottles were
distributed Nationwide and has the lot number of B01461 EXP 02/01.
This Class II recall
was initiated by the company, by telephone, fax and certified mail on May 2, 2000. This is
the first public notice issued by the FDA. The FDA has stated that the company has
completed all required recall procedures.
