Spartan(r) Antiseptic Hand Cleaner, Hair & Shampoo Recalled

Maumee, OH (SafetyAlerts) - The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) today reported that Spartan Chemical Company is conducting a recall of Spartan(r) Antiseptic Hand Cleaner, Hair & Shampoo, in 800 mL bags, 1 and 5-gallon pails, and 15, 30 and 55-gallon drums, because of the product contains unapproved dyes.

The recall affects lot numbers 0987 through 0993, and all codes prior to "04/03/00" expiration date.

FDA stated in its report that approximately 100,800 gallons were distributed nationwide.

This ongoing Class II recall was initiated by the company, by letter on April 14, 2000.  This is the first public notice issued by the FDA.
