Rapid Clear Eye Wash Recalled

Buzzards Bay, MA (SafetyAlerts) - The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) today reported that H.L. Burton Company Inc. is recalling Rapid Clear Eye Wash because the product contains the undeclared preservative chlorhexidine gluconate.

The Rapid Clear Eye Wash comes in 16-fluid ounce bottles and is a prescription for flushing or irrigating the eye.

According to the FDA, approximately 206 bottles were distributed in Illinois.  The recalled product bears the item number of 90329 and the lot number of 1006 EXP 01/02.

This ongoing Class II recall was initiated by H.L. Burton Company Inc., by telephone on March 6, 2000, followed by letter dated March 8, 2000.  This is the first public notice issued by the FDA.
