NJ (SafetyAlerts) - The Food and
Drug Administration (FDA) said today that Gentech LLC, doing business as Gaspari Nutrition
is recalling certain Tia-Cutz Capsules, Thyroid Stimulator because the product is an
unapproved new drug.
Although the FDA issued a warning
letter concerning products containing Tiratricol, this is the first public notice of this Class I recall
issued by FDA.
Tia-Cutz Capsules, Thyroid Stimulator, (1000 mcg Tiratricol), in 90-count
containers, OTC indicated for use in weight loss and in conditions of obesity.
Lot 990426 EXP 12/01.
Ultra Health Products, Phoenix, Arizona.
Gentech LLC, doing business as Gaspari Nutrition, Edison, New Jersey (responsible firm),
by telephone on May 18 and 25, 2000, and June 5, 2000, and by letter on August 4, 2000.
Firm-initiated recall **complete.
**Completed recall: While the FDA has completed
processing of this particular recall, it does not mean this particular product has been
fully accounted for.
1,569 bottles were distributed; firm estimates none remains on the market.
