Wonka Withdraws 7-oz Bags of Chewy Runts Candy for Undeclared Allergen

Itasca, IL (SafetyAlerts) - The Willy Wonka Candy Factory has today announced the voluntary withdrawl of all 7-ounce bags of Wonka Chewy Runts because egg albumen, a known food allergen, was ommitted from the label.

Persons who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to egg products run the risk of possible serious allergic reactions if they consume these products.

Only the 7-ounce bags of Chewy Runts have been mislabeled.  The candy was distributed in limited amounts nationwide.

According to a spokesman for Wonka, the Chewy Runts were only produced for four months and the number of 7-oz bags still in the market place are unkown.

In 1988, The Willy Wonka Candy Factory was purchased by Nestlé, and became part of the largest food company in the world.

Consumers with an allergy to eggs may return the candy to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Anyone with questions can call Wonka at 1-800-447-1427.
