Ben & Jerry's Recalls Peanut Butter Ice Cream Pints

South Burlington, VT (SafetyAlerts) - Ben & Jerry's  annnounced late yesterday it is recalling certain Ben & Jerry's Peanut Butter Cup Ice Cream Pints.  The affected pints may contain undeclared tree nuts.

Ben & Jerry's has received six reports of consumers who have experienced reactions.

Only those individuals who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to tree nuts run the risk of serious or potentially life threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

Peanut Butter Cup pints were distributed nationwide. Potentially affected product includes only product dated BEFORE October 26, 2001.

The code/date appears on the bottom of the package as month/day/year at the beginning of the second line of the black ink printing.

Peanut Butter Cup Ice Cream Pints dated after 10/26/01 include a statement indicating that the product may contain tree nuts and thus are not affected. A full investigation is underway.
