Kenosha, WI (SafetyAlerts) - The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) today reported that Herbco International, Inc. is conducting a recall of certain Astragalus Root Powder because the product is contaminated with Salmonella.

Astragalus Root Powder, package size varies from 1 pound bags to 100 pound lined paper drum.

Lot HI-029.

MANUFACTURER
China Jiangsu Medicines and Health Products Import and Export Corporation, China.

RECALLED BY
Herbco International, Inc., Kenosha, Wisconsin, by letter dated June 22, 2000. Firm-initiated recall complete.  This is the first public notice issued by the FDA.

DISTRIBUTION
Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, Canada.

QUANTITY
576 pounds were distributed.
