TX (SafetyAlerts) - The Food and
Drug Administration (FDA) today reported that Dr. Pepper/Seven Up, Inc. is conducting a
recall of certain Caffeine Free Dr. Pepper, both regular and diet, because the product
contains 55 mg sodium but lists 0 mg sodium on the label.
The affected products are:
1) Caffeine Free Diet Dr.
a) labeled as "CANNED BY GULF STATE CANNERS, INC., CLINTON, MISSISSIPPI"
bearing the following "sell by" dates: MAY0800, MAY1500, MAY2200, JUN0500,
b) labeled as "CANNED BY BATON ROUGE COCA-COLA BOTTLING CO., BATON ROUGE,
LOUISIANA" bearing the following "sell by" dates MAY0100, MAY1500, MAY2900,
2) Caffeine Free Dr. Pepper
labeled as "CANNED BY BATON ROUGE COCA-COLA BOTTLING CO., BATON ROUGE,
LOUISIANA" bearing the following "sell by" dates: NOV2000, DEC1100,
According to FDA, 6,890 6-packs and
33,040 12-packs were distributed in Kentucky, Mississippi, Arkansas, Louisiana and
This Class III recall
was initiated by the company, by telephone on April 7, 2000, followed by letter dated
April 13, 2000. This is the first public notice issued by the FDA. The FDA has
stated that the company has completed all required recall procedures.
