June 27, 2000Seagull Brand Egg-Plant Recalled
NY (SafetyAlerts) - The Food and
Drug Administration (FDA) today reported that Hong Thai Foods Corporation is conducting a
recall of certain Seagull brand Egg-Plant (whole) in brine, in 16-ounce glass jars,
because the product contained undeclared sulfites.
According to FDA, 46 cases of the
recalled products were distributed in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and
Massachusetts. This recall affects all product on market at time of recall
This Class I recall
was initiated by the company, by letter and press release on January 27, 2000. This
is the first public notice issued by the FDA. The FDA has stated that the company
has completed all required recall procedures.
