Brand Trail Mixes Recalled
Pittsburgh,
PA (SafetyAlerts) - The Food and
Drug Administration (FDA) today reported that Pittsburgh Snax and Nut Company is
conducting a Class
I recall of Farmers Market and Earth Delites brand Tropical Mix and a Class II recall
of Yogurt Trail Mix, also under the Farmers Market and Earth Delites labels. Both products
contain undeclared sulfites and FD&C Yellow No. 6.
Both products were sold in 4 and
16-ounce bags, and a 14-ounce plastic containers.
According to FDA, the recalled
products have the code of "Best Before June 17 or earlier" and were distributed
in Pennsylvania and Ohio.
The company has completed the recall
procedures for the Tropical Mix, however the Yogurt Trail Mix recall is still ongoing.
These recalls were initiated by the
company, by telephone followed by press release on May 4, 2000. This is the first public
notice issued by the FDA.
