Jerseymaid Old Fashioned Real Vanilla Ice Cream Recalled

Los Angeles, CA (SafetyAlerts) - The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) today reported that Safeway Inc. is conducting a recall of Jerseymaid Old Fashioned Real Vanilla Ice Cream, packaged in paperboard round half-gallon cartons, because the product is unfit for food due to contamination with ammonia.

According to FDA this recall affects code 011001 1Plt 06-2394.  Approximately 12,000 cartons were distributed in California and Nevada.

This Class III recall was initiated by the company, by E-mail on May 3, 2000.  This is the first public notice issued by the FDA.  The FDA has stated that the company has completed all required recall procedures.
