RO*TEL Brand Diced Tomatoes and Green Chilies May Contain Metal Pieces

Parsippany, NY (SafetyAlerts) - The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) today reported that International Home Foods Inc. is recalling certain RO*TEL brand Diced Tomatoes and Green Chilies, packed in 10-ounce cans, because the product may contain metal fragments.

According to the FDA, 642,816 cans were distributed nationwide and bears the Top Line Can Code of 9_RTX259A1, the Case Code of 28243X259AXA1 and the Label Code of 6414428243.

This ongoing Class III recall was initiated by the company, by letter on April 21, 2000.  This is the first public notice issued by the FDA.  The FDA stated that the company has completed all required recall procedures.
