Pineapple Chunks Packed in Natural Juice Recalled

Washington (SafetyAlerts) - The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) today reported that Summerpride Foods, Inc., of East London, South Africa is recalling Pineapple Chunks packed in natural juice, in 108-ounce (6-pound 12-ounce) containers, because the product contains elevated levels of tin.

Recalled codes included all can codes with a top line of 108912.  782 cases (6 cans per case) were distributed. in Florida.

This ongoing Class II recall was initiated by Sunlight Foods, Inc., of Miami, Florida, by letter on April 13, 2000.   This is the first public notice issued by the FDA.
