Fresh Made Kefir Strawberry-Banana Recalled

Philadelphia, PA (SafetyAlerts) - The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) today reported that Fresh Made, Inc. is recalling certain Fresh Made Kefir Strawberry-Banana, in the 32-fluid ounces size, because the product contains undeclared FD&C Yellow No. 5.

According to the FDA 180 cases were distributed in California, Illinois, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. UPDATE: This recall affects products coded with expiration dates through 5/12/00.

People who have allergies to certain foods run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

This Class II recall was initiated by the company, by letter on May 1, 2000 followed by visit.

This is the first public notice issued by the FDA.  The FDA stated that the company has completed all required recall procedures.
