Fresh Strawberries Recalled for Contamination

San Diego, CA (SafetyAlerts) - The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) today announced that Expo Fresh LLC is recalling fresh strawberries, in bulk cardboard cartons, labeled under the Fresh Delight and Janina-V/Janina-1st brand because the product is contaminated with salmonella.

All strawberries associated with import entry #748-0185065-7 are affected by this recall.  915 cartons, consisting of 12,810 pounds of these strawberries were distributed in California, Arizona, Michigan and Missouri.

This ongoing Class I recall was initiated by the company, by by letter faxed or mailed on March 21, 2000.  This is the first public notice issued by the FDA.
