Recalls Yellowfin Tuna Loins
Honolulu, HI (SafetyAlerts) - The Food and Drug
Administration (FDA) today reported that Garden and Valley Isle Seafood, Inc. is recalling
Yellowfin Tuna Loins, frozen (row) vacuumed packaged in various weights, made by Sea Pack.
The tuna is being recalled because the product contained high levels of histamine
and was associated with histamine poisoning.
Approximately 2,262 pounds were
distributed in Hawaii and bear the Lot #23300 with the production dates of:
12/04/98; 02/03/99; 6/08/99; 7/24/99; 8/14/99; 9/03/99; 9/06/99; 9/09/99; and
9/10/99. The FDA stated that there may be other production dates that were already
sold to customers.
This ongoing Class II recall
was initiated by Garden and Valley Isle Seafood, Inc., by memorandum February 23 and 24,
2000, and by telephone. This is the first public notice issued by the FDA.
