Madison, WI (SafetyAlerts) - The Food and Drug
Administration (FDA) today reported that Babcock Hall Dairy Plant, University of
Wisconsin-Madison, Department of Food Science, is recalling Babcock Hall brand Ice Cream,
because the product contained undeclared allergens.
The recalled ice cream was sold in
Wisconsin in the following flavors:
a) Brownies and Raspberry Swirl Ice Cream, in bulk 3-gallon containers, 1/2 gallon,
quarts, and pints
b) Vanilla Chocolate Cake Ice Cream, in bulk 3-gallon containers
c) Pumpkin Cream Pie Ice Cream, in bulk 3-gallon containers, and 1/2 gallon containers
d) Chocolate Marshmallow Ice Cream, in bulk 3-gallon containers
e) Grasshopper Ice Cream, in bulk 3-gallon containers.
All the affected flavors contain
undeclared egg ingredients. The Grasshopper Ice Cream also contains undeclared
FD&C Yellow No. 5.
This Class I recall
was initiated by Babcock Hall Dairy Plant, by letter on March 16, 2000, followed by visit
to relabel product on March 17, 2000. This is the first public notice issued by the
FDA. The FDA has stated that the company has completed all required recall
