Brooklyn, NY (SafetyAlerts) - The Food and Drug
Administration (FDA) today reported that Vasinee Food Corporation is recalling Chef's
brand Pickled Egg-Plant, in 16-ounce jars because the product contained undeclared
sulfites and sodium benzoate.
About 200 cases were
distributed in New York.
This Class I recall
was initiated by Vasinee Food Corporation, by letter and allergy alert on December 23,
1999. This is the first public notice issued by the FDA. The FDA has stated
that the company has completed all required recall procedures.
