Brooklyn, NY (SafetyAlerts) - The Food and Drug
Administration (FDA) today reported that Tuv Taam Corporation is recalling Kosher Gourmet
brand Diet Jello, packaged in 4-ounce plastic containers, because the product contained
aspartame but did not bear the warning statement "PHENYLKETONURICS: CONTAINS
PHENYLALANINE" as required by 21CFR 172.804. In addition, the product contains
undeclared FD&C Red No. 40.
About 32 cases were distributed in
New York and New Jersey.
This Class III recall
was initiated by Tuv Taam Corporation, by telephone on December 16, 1999. This is
the first public notice issued by the FDA. The FDA stated that the company has
completed all required recall procedures.
