Maspeth, NY (SafetyAlerts) - The Food and Drug
Administration (FDA) today reported that Coca-Cola Bottling Company is recalling Diet Coke
in 2 liter plastic bottles, because the product is labeled as Diet Coke but actually
contained Coca-Cola Classic, a regularly sweetened beverage.
Almost 10,000 cases, that bear the
code DEC2799KME, were distributed in New York.
This Class II recall
was initiated by Coca-Cola Bottling Company, by E-mail on October 26, 1999 and by letter
dated November 1, 1999. This is the first public notice issued by the FDA although
the recall report states a press release was issued on October 28, 1999. The FDA has
stated that the company has completed all required recall procedures.
