of Western Distributors Inc.
Brooklyn, NY (SafetyAlerts) - The Food and Drug
Administration (FDA) today reported that Star of Western Distributors Inc., is recalling
Barbaris Drink, packaged in 1.5-liter rigid plastic bottles, because the product contains
the uncertified color additive sunset yellow FCF(certifiable as FD&C Yellow No. 6) and
it contains the unapproved color additive carmoisine.
Only 30 cases of the recalled product
were distributed in New York and bear no codes.
This Class II recall
was initiated by Star of Western Distributors Inc., by visit and telephone on April 21,
1999. This is the first public notice issued by the FDA. The FDA has stated
that the company has completed all required recall procedures.
