Cubics, Pincky's and Pinduletas Licorice Dragees Recalled
Brooklyn, NY (SafetyAlerts) - The Food and Drug
Administration (FDA) today reported that Paskesz Candy, is recalling Shneider's Mehadrin
Mallows Cubics, Pincky's and Pinduletas Licorice Dragees, because the product contained unapproved
The Mehadrin Mallows Cubics contained
Ponceau 4R (E124, Acid Red 18) and Quinoline Yellow (E104). The product also contained an
unidentified blue color.
The Mehadrin Mallows Pincky's
contained the unapproved color Ponceau 4R (E124, Acid Red 18).
The Pinduletas Licorice Dragees
contained the unapproved colors Ponceau 4R (E124, Acid Red 18) and Quinoline Yellow
(E104). The product also contained an unidentified blue color.
About 175 cases of the recalled
product were distributed in New York, New Jersey, Michigan, Connecticut and may have been
sold in other areas. The Mehadrin Mallows Cubics bear the code L0889217-02-99.
The Mehadrin Mallows Pincky's bear the code 088912-99.
The Pinduletas Licorice Dragees are
This Class II recall
was initiated by Paskesz Candy, by telephone and visit on March 22, 1999. This is
the first public notice issued by the FDA. The FDA has stated that the company has
completed all required recall procedures.
