LaPlacita Brand Chile Molido Recalled

Brooklyn, NY (SafetyAlerts) - The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) today reported that La Placita Mexican Products, is recalling LaPlacita Inc., brand Chile Molido (Spanish for ground Chile, a spice), in 2-ounce plastic bags, because the product contained the unapproved color additive Ponceau 4R and it contains the color sunset yellow FCF (certifiable as FD&C Yellow No. 6).

Only 40 packages of the recalled product were distributed in New York and bear no codes.

This Class II recall was initiated by La Placita Mexican Products, by visit on June 1, 1999.  This is the first public notice issued by the FDA.  The FDA has stated that the company has completed all required recall procedures.
