Weiss Home Made Kosher Bakery Recalls Flaky Nut Rugelech and Lace Cookies

Brooklyn, NY (SafetyAlerts) - The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) today reported that Weiss Home Made Kosher Bakery is recalling Flaky Nut Rugelech and Lace Cookies, because the label states that the product contains "ground nuts" but does not specify the type of nuts in the product.

According to the FDA, approximately 56 cases were distributed.  The Flaky Nut Rugelech, packaged in 12-ounce rigid plastic containers, were sold in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.  They were not able to determine the distribution of the Lace Cookies, which are packaged in 12-ounce rigid plastic containers.  Neither of the products display any codes.

This Class III recall was initiated by Weiss Home Made Kosher Bakery by telephone on February 22, 1999.  This is the first public notice issued by the FDA.  The FDA stated that the company has completed all required recall procedures.

Questions concerning this recall may be directed to the FDA at 1-888-INFO-FDA.
