Kraft Natural Shredded Mild Cheddar Cheese Recalled

Northfield, IL (SafetyAlerts) - The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) today reported that Kraft Foods, Inc. is recalling certain 8-ounce resealable bags of Kraft Natural Shredded Mild Cheddar Cheese because the product may contain pieces of wood.

The recalled cheese can be identified by the code of MAR 19 00 S.

According to FDA, approximately 630 cases (12 bags per case) were distributed in Missouri and Kansas.  The estimated that 20 percent of product remained on market at time of recall initiation.

This ongoing Class II recall was initiated by Kraft by letter on December 10, 1999. This is the first public notice issued by the FDA.
