Cherries and Family Choice Assorted Milk Chocolates Recalled
Baden, PA (SafetyAlerts) - The Food and Drug
Administration (FDA) today reported that Anderson's Candies is recalling certain Chocolate
Covered Cherries and Family Choice Assorted Milk Chocolates, Deluxe Assortment, because
the products contain undeclared sulfites and FD&C Red No. 40.
Firm estimated that 72 of the 1 and
2-pound containers remained on market at time of recall initiation. The
recalled candies were distributed in Pennsylvania and affects any package that does not
display sulfites and FD&C Red No. 40 on the label.
The FDA has classified the Chocolate
Covered Cherries recall as an ongoing Class II recall.
The Family Choice Assorted Milk Chocolates is classified as an ongoing Class III
recall. Both recalls were initiated by Anderson's Candies, by placing placards at
cash registers beginning on November 16, 1999. This is the first public notice
issued by the FDA.
