Alma Mild Mixed Vegetables Giardinera Recalled

Stoughton, MA (SafetyAlerts) - The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said today that Alma Food Corporation is recalling certain Alma Mild Mixed Vegetables Giardinera because the product contains undeclared sulfites.

This is the first public notice of this Class I issued by FDA.

Alma Mild Mixed Vegetables Giardinera, packed in 16-fluid ounce jars.

Recall #F-039-1.

All product on market at time of recall initiation.

Product of Greece.

Alma Foods Corporation, Stoughton, Massachusetts (repacker/distributor), by telephone on August 9, 2000, followed by letter faxed on August 10, 2000. Ongoing recall resulted from sample analysis and follow-up by the
New York Department of Agriculture and Markets.

Massachusetts and New York.

Firm estimated that approximately 47 cases (12 jars per case) remained on the market at time of recall initiation.
