Mercedes-Benz SL500 and SL600 Coupe/Roadsters Recalled

Montvale, NJ (SafetyAlerts) - Mercedes-Benz USA today announced a recall affecting 4,400 of their 1997 SL coupe/roadsters to replace the driver's side airbag modules.  Exposure to high humidity may result in corrosion that can cause the driver's front airbag to deploy unintentionally.

Mercedes has received a few reports of the airbag inadvertently deploying but is not aware of any injuries as a result of this problem.

The company is immediately notifying owners of all affected vehicles, suggesting that they contact their retailer to schedule service.

The airbag replacement takes approximately 30 minutes and will be conducted at no charge to clients.

Consumers with questions should contact Mercedes-Benz USA at 1-800-367-6372

Important Note Regarding Auto Recalls

your dealer will know about them. If you have a vehicle
affected by one of these posted recalls be sure and
write down the NHTSA
If your dealer doesn't know about the recall when you
check, ask them how they are notified of recalls and
when the next update is due.
