1997-1999 BMW M3 Series Automobiles Recalled

Woodcliff Lake, NJ (SafetyAlerts) - BMW of North America has today issued a recall of certain 1997-1999 M3 Series automobiles equipped with a side airbag.  The recall is being conducted because of possible software problems that have caused inadvertent deployment of the side airbags.

BMW has received reports of minor injuries associated with this problem but is not aware of any accidents caused by the unnessacary deployment of the side bags.

Approximately 17,00 vehicles are affected by this recall.

Owner notification of this recall is scheduled to begin later in January.  Owners with question or concerns should call their local BMW Dealer or BMW at 1-800-831-1117.
