2000 Ford Contour and Mercury Mystique Recalled
Washington, DC (SafetyAlerts) - The National Highway
Traffic Safety Administration has published the recall of certain 2000 Ford Contour and
Mercury Mystique automobiles, manufactured in December, 1999, because, an incorrect label
was installed on the driver side rear door. This label contains instructions for the
activation of the childproof safety locks.
The operator of the vehicle may believe the
childproof safety lock is activated when it is not, potentially allowing the door to be
opened from the inside.
Approximately 1,450 vehicles are affected by this
recall. Owners will be provided with a replacement label and installation

who do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact Ford at
