BMW Has Recalled the 2002 325I , 330I , 525I , 530I
BMW Has Recalled the 2002 325I , 330I , 525I , 530I because
the front strut could separate from the upper mount.
Potential Number of Units Affected: 4672
Manufactured: 11/2001 - 11/2001
VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PASSENGER VEHICLES. DURING THE STRUT MOUNT
MANUFACTURING PROCESS, THE THRUST BEARING WAS NOT PROPERLY POSITIONS AND
SECURED. IF THE SUSPENSION IS FULLY UNLOADED, THE FRONT STRUT COULD SEPARATE
FROM THE UPPER MOUNT.
THIS COULD AFFECT VEHICLE HANDLING AND CONTROL, INCREASING THE RISK OF A
DEALERS WILL REPLACE BOTH FRONT SPRING STRUT UPPER MOUNTS. OWNER
NOTIFICATION IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING MARCH 2002. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR
VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT
RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT BMW AT
NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number: 02V057000.
