DaimlerChrysler Corporation Has Recalled 2001 Dodge Truck Ram
Detroit, MI (SafetyAlerts) -
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has published
a recall affecting the 2001 Dodge Truck Ram.
Potential Number of Units Affected: 268740
Manufactured: 01/2000 - 08/2000
Defect Summary: VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: PICKUP TRUCKS. THE ALTERNATOR WIRE
CONNECTION TO THE POWER DISTRIBUTION CENTER (PDC) CAN LOOSEN. THIS COULD
CAUSE A VEHICLE FIRE.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE INSTALLATION OF THE ALTERNATOR WIRE
CONNECTION TO THE PDC AND IF NECESSARY, REPOSITION THE WIRE SO THAT THE
CRIMP CONNECTION WILL FACE UPWARD AND TIGHTEN THE FASTENER TO THE CORRECT
TORQUE SETTING. DAIMLERCHRYSLER HAS NOT YET PROVIDED NHTSA WITH AN OWNER
NOTIFICATION SCHEDULE. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED
DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY
WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT DAIMLERCHRYSLER AT 1-800-853-1403.
