COOPER TIRE Has Recalled the DEL-NAT, CHAPARRAL AP

Detroit, MI (SafetyAlerts) - The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has published a recall affecting the COOPER TIRE & RUBBER CO. DEL-NAT, CHAPARRAL AP tire.

Potential Number of Units Affected: 1848

Manufactured: 08/2001 - 10/2001

Defect Summary:
TIRE DESCRIPTION: DEL-NAT CORPORATION CHAPARRAL AP TIRES, SIZE P265/75R15 AND P265/75R16 PRODUCED BT COPPER TIRE & RUBBER CO., BETWEEN AUGUST 26 AND OCTOBER 6, 2001. THESE TIRES MAY NOT HAVE ADEQUATE RUBBER COVERAGE OF THE BELT EDGE DUE TO LOW TREAD GAUAGE UNDER THE SHOULDER SLOTS.

Consequence Summary:
WHEN THIS CONDITION EXISTS, IT MAY EVENTUALLY EXPOSE THE BELT WIRES WHICH COULD LEAD TO BELT DEGRADATION.

Corrective Summary:
COOPER WILL NOTIFY ITS DEALERS/CUSTOMERS TO HAVE THE TIRES REPLACED FREE OF CHARGE.
