2001 Mitsubishi Galant, Eclipse and Eclipse Spyder Recalled

Detroit, MI (SafetyAlerts) - The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has published a recall affecting certain 2001 Mitsubishi Galant, Eclipse and Eclipse Spyder automobiles manufactured in February 2001.

On certain passenger vehicles, a bulge in the fuel tank caused by the manufacturing process resulted in thinning of the material during a welding operation, increasing the risk of fuel leakage. Fuel leakage in the presence of an ignition source could result in a fire.

192 vehicles are affected by this recall.

Dealers will replace the fuel tank assembly.

The manufacturer has not yet provided an owner notification schedule.

[NHTSA Recall No. 01V069]

affected by one of these posted recalls be sure and
write down the NHTSA

If your dealer doesn't know about the recall when you
check, ask them how they are notified of recalls and
