Apil 12, 20011999-2001 Mitsubishi Montero Sport Recalled
Detroit, MI (SafetyAlerts) - The National Highway
Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has published a recall affecting the 1999-2001
Mitsubishi Montero Sport automobiles. The affected automobiles were manufactured
between June 1998 and January 2001.
These sport utility vehicles equipped with
3.5-liter engines have brake vacuum hoses that do not comply with the requirements of
Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 106, Brake Hoses. Failure of the vacuum hose can
result in a loss of power assist to the brakes and increase stopping distances.
19,000 automobiles are affected by this recall.
Dealers will replace the vacuum hose.
The manufacturer has not yet provided an owner
notification schedule.
