1998-2000 Dodge Ram Pickups Recalled

Auburn Hills, MI  (SafetyAlerts) - DaimlerChrysler is voluntarily recalling certain 1998-2000 Dodge Ram trucks because of problems with the trailer Hitches.

DaimlerChrysler will reinforce or replace defective hitches in about 380,000 trucks.  The trailer hitches may have been made with sub-standard steel.

The recall affects Dodge Ram trucks built between January 1998 and September 1999. There have been no reports of hitches breaking as a result of this problem.

Owner notification has already begun.  Owners of affected trucks should call a local dealer to schedule the short inspection and, if required, repair work.

Further questions should be directed to DaimlerChrysler at 1-800-992-1997.
