Ford Recalls Certain 1999- and 2000-model Explorer and Mercury Mountaineer SUV's

Detroit, MI  (SafetyAlerts) - The National Highway Transportation Administration (NHTSA) has published the recall of  certain 1999- and 2000-model Ford Explorer and Mercury Mountaineer sport utility vehicles to repair windshield wipers that may fail.

Vehicles manufactured between September 1998 through September 1999 are affected by this recall.

Dealers will install a resistor in the GEM circuit. Owner notification is expected to begin April 15, 2000. Owners who take their vehicles to an authorized dealer on an agreed upon service date and do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact Ford at 1-800-392-3673.
