2000 Dodge Dakota Recalled

Detroit, MI  (SafetyAlerts) - The National Highway Transportation Administration (NHTSA) has announced  the recall of certain Dodge Dakota year 2000 vehicles because on some of the pickup trucks equipped with 4.7L engine and automatic transmissions, the automatic transmission may expel fluid from the fill tube during normal temperature operation. The transmission fluid could come into contact with the hot exhaust system and ignition of the transmission fluid could result.

20,000 vehicles manufactured between December 1999 and March 2000 are affected by this recall.

Dealers will shorten the vent hose and assure adequate clearance. The manufacturer has reported that owner notification is expected to begin during August 2000. Owners who do not receive the free remedy within a reasonable time should contact DaimlerChrysler at 1-800-992-1997.

affected by one of these posted recalls be sure and
write down the NHTSA

If your dealer doesn't know about the recall when you
check, ask them how they are notified of recalls and
